I re-discovered Pilates after a friend referred me to Intelligent Exercise. As one of the “boomer” generation, the Pilates focus on low impact, varying intensity, functional movement was exactly what I was looking for.
I was inspired by Melissa Francis and her philosophy that “movement, in any method, using good form, keeps us active, happy, and mentally aware. When we are active, happy, and aware – our world becomes a better place.” This resonated so much that I decided to pursue instructor training under Melissa’s guidance.
I successfully completed the Balanced Body Pilates Barre, Mat 1, and Mat 2 programs. Additionally, I have completed continuing education classes in: Pilates Studio Sequences for Gait, Cueing Lab and Anatomy for Movement Professionals.
Last summer I retired after 35 years in the health care sector. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from the University of Buffalo and a Masters degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan.
I love that the variety of Balanced Body Pilates classes provides a full body workout for any age and level of ability. Through Pilates I improved my strength and balance supporting my other interests including biking, walking, gardening and scuba diving. I teach Barre Classes and multi-level Pilates Mat. I also enjoy combining volunteer work with Pilates and am working with the Ozone House currently to provide fitness activities to our youth. My goal is to be the best I can be and help others do the same…..let’s move and have fun!
