My Certifications and Education: Pilates Method Alliance, Pilates Comprehensive Certifications from both the PhysicalMind Institute and Core Grace Pilates, and Pre/Postnatal Pilates Certification from The Center for Women's Fitness. My love of Pilates began with my first class and has grown into becoming a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor.  I was looking for a way to strengthen my body and what I found with Pilates is the ability to strengthen with control while gaining flexibility. I had NO idea a body could move in such a way. In January 2013 when offered the chance to help others I quickly jumped at the opportunity and started my training to become a Pilates Instructor. In March 2014, I passed my practical exam and was awarded my Comprehensive certificate.

I love Spin, TRX and HIIT training, but this type of training is very hard on one’s body and without proper form can cause damage. I thought I was using good form until I started working with a Pilates instructor. She quickly showed me how to up my game at the gym by using good posture while incorporating core. I am hooked...

I re-discovered Pilates about a year ago after a friend referred me to Intelligent Exercise.  As one of the “boomer” generation, the Pilates focus on low impact, varying intensity, functional movement was exactly what I was looking for.  

I was inspired by Melissa Francis and her philosophy that movement, in any method, using good form, keeps us active, happy, and mentally aware. When we are active, happy, and aware – our world becomes a better place.”  This resonated so much that I decided to pursue instructor training under Melissa’s guidance.

I am a member of a fast growing group of folks who are committed to living well and aging with gusto!  I started my Pilates practice in 2007 to improve balance and flexibility. It worked. I have better balance and flexibility than I've had in many years.  My life has always been filled with exercise and movement; including running, swimming, biking, and hiking, kayaking, and skiing. Fifty years ago, I played college sports. Forty years ago I ran and biked. Thirty years ago I participated in half marathons and triathlons. Twenty years ago I was jogging. Ten years ago brought kayaking, skiing, and walking.  Now, Pilates has taken me to new levels of fitness.

I started my Pilates journey over five years ago and continue to be impressed by how good I feel after doing Pilates, and how strong and capable I’ve become!  As a teacher I want to help people reach their personal goals whether it be flexibility, coordination, balance, strength training, or even de-stressing after a long week!
