Anatomy For Movement Professionals

This 16 hour training weekend will count toward your Balanced Body Reformer or Full Certification. Anatomy is required for any Pilates certification as well as PMA certification. The module will introduce common terms, biomechanics, and the musculoskeletal system and  will be experientially based so that theory can be applied to movement and movement analysis. This course is also great for any person interested in learning more about their own anatomy and relationships of anatomy to movement. This course is appropriate for all levels.

 

Anatomy is 16 hours and will be held on Fri: 5-9pm & Sat and Sun from 10 am to 5pm.  

The manual used will be "The Muscular System Manual, 3rd Edition". This can also be purchased through Amazon. Contact Intelligent Exercise for more information regarding the manual.

Movement Principles

Welcome to Pilates instructor training through Balanced Body.


The Balanced Body Movement Principles form the foundation of Balanced Body Education. They include the most important information on anatomy, assessment, biomechanics and foundational exercises needed to become a successful Pilates teacher, personal trainer or movement educator. The course mixes information on how the body works with basic exercises to illustrate the information in movement. You will come away with a complete tool box for effectively training clients to recover from injuries, improve their general fitness and enhance their performance. The focus on practical understanding of common movement patterns prepares instructors to be excellent at problem solving, goal setting and learning new exercise techniques with ease.

Trapeze Cadillac

The Balanced Body Trapeze Table/Cadillac training provides a thorough introduction to the Trapeze Table exercises as well as applications for beginning, post-rehabilitation and advanced clients. This training is appropriate for students working with the Allegro Tower of Power, Half Trapeze and Wall Unit as well as those working with full Trapeze Tables. Sequencing programs using multiple pieces of equipment are covered as well as equipment set up, safety and maintenance.

 

 Trapeze Cadillac will be held on Fri: 5-8pm Sat and Sun from 9 am to 5pm.

Reformer 1 and Movement Principles

The Pilates Movement Principles introduce you to the biomechanical foundation of the Pilates method and to the essential components of functional core strength, lumbopelvic and scapular stability, as well as assessing and correcting alignment and improving flexibility. Pre-Pilates exercises are included for teaching these key principles to your clients and classes. Reformer 1 includes an introduction to the Pilates Reformer including set up and safety, plus beginning exercises, program sequencing and teaching tips for group classes. By the end of the course you will be able to teach beginning Reformer classes or personal training sessions. This is one of the most challenging of the instructor training modules. Come ready to work and learn!

Course is 18 hours: Friday 3 - 8pm, Sat and Sunday 9am -5pm.

What are common causes of back pain and what can proper exercise technique do to alleviate or eliminate pain altogether?  Understand how to plan Exercise Programs for the mat and reformer that will increase deep spinal muscle strength and create balanced muscles for common ailments.

This 3 hour course goes through several protocols of spinal health including disc and bony issues. You’ll learn what different spine issues are and how to use the reformer and mat exercises safely and effectively for your clients. This course is appropriate for Mat and Reformer instructors. The syllabus includes an introduction to the history of Pilates and the Pilates Principles.  Fundamental movements, a review of core anatomy, beginning, and most intermediate level exercises with modifications will be covered. Special focus will be paid to client assessment and using alignment and posture to understand client muscle development and strength balance.  Also included are lectures on creating classes/class order and programming in a fitness setting.  This course is good for ACE and PMA CECs.

Balanced Body Pilates Arc instructor training includes an introduction to the history and principles of Pilates, the features, function and safety precautions for the Pilates Arc, the complete repertoire of exercises on the Pilates Arc with modifications and lectures on class order and programming in a studio or fitness setting.
We offer a 4 and 6 hour workshop. The 6 hour workshop includes 2 hours of instruction on using the Pilates Arc on a Reformer.
