Coming to Pilates with a long career, which has always been a balance of movement and business, I spent 10 years in NYC teaching, choreographing, and dancing while working in the apparel field upon obtaining an M.F.A. in Dance from the University of Michigan. After 20 years of working with the industry giant Levi Strauss and Company in sales, management, and marketing I transitioned to the fitness industry obtaining certification in pilates with mentor and teacher, Khita Wyatt and Core Grace Pilates Studio. I worked for many years alongside Khita in her local studio, as well as teaching in many other locations throughout the Detroit Metro area. After stepping down from the Director position at The Health & Fitness Center at Washtenaw Community College in 2016 where I continued to teach mat, reformer, and gentle pilates with meditation, I made the decision to bridge my certification with Balanced Body. This decision renewed my enthusiasm and passion for this form of exercise and has allowed me to gain additional knowledge and practice to support me as a teacher.
Over the past 15 years the Pilates field has expanded upon itself providing the public with many unique ways to experience the form and benefits, all the while maintaining the integrity of the modality developed by Joseph Pilates and his core principals, which is exciting for me to experience. My philosophy is “fitness is medicine” for the body, mind, and spirit, and my goal is to remain moving with joy through life as well as to be able to provide that experience to anyone who is searching! My greatest joy over the past 17 years of working within the fitness and Pilates industries has been to observe the changes and growth to all individuals through working consciously with Pilates, to be able to incorporate that into daily life and move with strength, flexibility, and mindfulness.
