Zumba Gold instructor, ACE-Certified Group Fitness Instructor
As an occupational therapist, my primary focus is on promoting wellness through movement and participation. Over the last 29 years, I have trained in a variety of dance styles, with my true passion lying with Ballet and Polynesian Dance. I have served as a company member with a number of dance organizations throughout Michigan and in Virginia, and have had the opportunity to perform in New York City and at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.Since 2015, I have become a licensed Zumba and Zumba Gold instructor, as well as an ACE-Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Senior Fitness Specialist, with aspirations to bring the joy of movement to various populations in our community.
Through personal experiences in multiple dance communities over the years, and as an occupational therapist who has worked with people of many ages and ability levels with varying needs, I have learned the value of movement arts in promoting self-expression and positive body image. I value the importance of having a safe environment in order to promote body positivity and to celebrate what the body can do, versus focusing on what it cannot do. Everyone can dance, despite potential limitations, and everyone deserves the opportunity to do so in a judgment-free space. As long as you are moving (safely!) and having fun, you are doing it right!
